Frequently asked questions
What does Video Origin identify?
The movie, TV series, music video, or creator video a short clip was taken from. You get a title when one is likely, a type, a year when it applies, a confidence score, a short explanation, visual evidence, and other possibilities. If the frames are not enough, the result can be unknown.
Which links can I paste?
Public YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok links. Some hosts block anonymous downloads. When that happens, the app asks you to upload the clip instead. You do not sign in to those sites inside Video Origin.
What files can I upload?
MP4, MOV, or WebM, up to 100 MB, from your gallery or from files. On a longer video you can select the range that contains the scene before the check runs.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Continue with Google or Apple. New accounts receive five free checks. Each identification uses one check. More checks are sold as packs in the Shop tab: 3, 10, 25, or 50. On iPhone those packs are App Store purchases. On the web they use card checkout when payments are enabled.
Are my videos stored?
No. Uploaded and downloaded videos are kept only while you pick a range and the analysis runs, then deleted. A few still frames are sent to OpenAI vision to produce the identification. We do not keep the video or those frames afterward. Read more on the privacy page.
Where does history live?
On the device or browser you used. The server does not keep a copy of your identifications. You can clear history in Settings.
Which languages are supported?
English, Spanish, Hindi, and Chinese. Change the language in Settings. The identification itself is based on the frames, not on the caption language.
Where can I use it?
The iPhone app, the web app, and the Telegram Mini App share the same identification flow. Sign in on each one with Google or Apple.
